Yes, there are seven different symbols in the GS1 DataBar family.
GS1 DataBar Omnidirectional, GS1 DataBar Stacked Omnidirectional, GS1 DataBar Expanded, and GS1 DataBar Expanded Stacked were designed specially to work at the retail Point-of-Sale with an omnidirectional 'slot' scanner.
GS1 DataBar Omnidirectional and GS1 Databar Stacked Omnidirectional symbols simply encode a GTIN, while GS1 Databar Expanded and GS1 DataBar Expanded Stacked symbols can encode a GTIN plus attribute data about the item.
The remaining three, GS1 DataBar Truncated, GS1 DataBar Stacked, and GS1 DataBar Limited, were not designed for omnidirectional scanning and therefore are not approved for use at retail Point-of-Sale.
