Some service providers offer their customers internet based EDI. It uses exactly the same GS1 EANCOM® or GS1 XML messages as the ones used for 'classic' EDI. The only difference is in the medium of communication. Instead of using a traditional Value Added Network, the messages are sent over the internet.
The use of the internet has also opened up the opportunity for service providers to provide additional services hosted on their servers to facilitate the implementation of the Business Model and associated messages.
