What is the main use of Global Returnable Asset Identifier (GRAI) in GS1 Transport & Logistics?

Modified on Sat, 24 Aug at 10:33 AM

The GRAI is used to identify returnable assets such as re-usable transport equipment like trays, crates, pallets or beer kegs that are used and then returned to be used again.

The GRAI can be used:

  • simply for asset identification and tracking purposesor it can be as part of a hiring or rental system where two
  • or more companies collaborate, as it allows enterprises to scan assets into and out of their businesses
