What kind of messages does GS1 XML EDI standard provide?

Modified on Mon, 2 Sep at 7:46 AM

GS1 XML provides a logical sequence of messages used in business practice. Business partners agree together on messages suitable for their needs.
The GS1 XML can be divided into the following categories:

1. Trade messages
  • Master data alignment - provides the ability to align item master data in a peer to peer environment.
  • Order messages - supporting the ordering process from a proposed order, subsequent changes and the eventual order confirmation (relevant quantities, dates, location of delivery, etc.).
  • Deliver messages – supporting the announcement of despatched delivery, receipt of goods, consumption report required in consignment stock scenarios and inventory status.
  • Payment messages – supporting payment of the goods supplied. The buyer can automatically reconcile the suppliers invoice using the product receipt information.

2. Logistics messages
  • Transport planning and execution.
  • Warehousing inbound and outbound control, as well as warehousing inventory control.

3. Product Recall messages - a set of messages supporting the process of removing from the supply chain specific products (traceable items) which may pose a health and safety risk to consumers.

4. Artwork Content messages - allows sending the product’s artwork content that appears on a package (e.g. box, label, bag) or related materials (e.g.printed coupons).

5. Application level message - a message that allows the message recipient to confirm that he received the message and whether he was able to process it without error.
